ABCIP 2023R2 not able to communicate to ControlLogix 5580

New setup installation with PC having Win 11 Pro 25H2 and SP2023R2 and CDP2023R2.

Control Logix firmware version is 34.011.

Able to ping the plc but slsping IPaddress abcip returns "IP Address reachable but no WW directory service SLSSVC is responding there".

Windows Firewall is turned OFF.

Suitelink service and ABCIP is running.

Added inbound and outbound rules for 44818 port for Suitelink.

Added PLC IPs in hosts file also.

Network is in the same subnet as PLC.

Looking forward for suggestions on how to resolve this issue.

[ABCLX] Setting Device Specific Parameters

Hi All,

Hopefully a quick question. Trying to understand the correct format for setting device specific parameters. If it helps it is to set specific ABCLX driver parameters for a set IO device or cluster (doesn't matter if its the specific device or the entire cluster for my purposes). The help section specifies the format of the Citect.ini file as:

[CLServer.CLServerPort]

Just trying to align those options with a real world example in my system.

I have the below IO device as an example.

Cluster: Gas_Cl

IO Server: Gas_IO_P

Port: RTG_CLX_P

I've tried the following section names to no avail: Gas_Cl.Gas_IO_P, Gas_IO_P.RTG_CLX_P, Gas_Cl.RTG_CLX_P, ABCLX.Gas_Cl.Gas_IO_P

How should it be formatted?

I'm rying to understand the difference between these two driver parameters (confirmed both are valid parameters) in the context of optimizing the ABCLX driver connections.

Viewing Documentation The Below Definitions Exist

ScanRate

100 to 30000 milliseconds

500

The time period (in milliseconds) between each poll of the root group.

This can be system wide if placed in the driver's general section, or device specific if placed under a specific device's section.

Polltime

20 to 200

The polling service time (in milliseconds) at which cached data is updated.

Specifically, we are trying to optimize an ABCLX driver for connections to a large range of ControlLogix PLC's. Our Average Poll Time is 76ms with a maximum of 636ms (4 devices are above 400ms - excluding these 4 devices the average is 43ms.

The PLC's themselves are sitting at high Class 3 Utilization (MSG Comms) but low connections. The thought process loosely is to slowdown the Poll time (make 100ms for example), increase the ForwardOpenPoolSize from 4 (default) to 6 to allow usage of more the connection paths.

The below images are an example of the Driver Statistics View (and verbose mode) for a standard Device.

ABCIP Status items for Forces and Faults

With ABCIP is there a way to get controller status information like minor/major faults and forces present/enabled? I know within the controller you can use GSVs to get this information into other tags, but I would like to see if there is a way to get this and other controller information without modifying the controllers program.

Hi everyone,

According to the Tech Matrix the SIDIR communication driver 2023 R2 SP1 https://gcsresource.aveva.com/TechnologyMatrix/Report/Details/16022 supports only firmware up to 3.1.3 for S7-1500 explicitly.

But customers are using TIA19 or TIA20 which uses newer versions like 3.1.5 or 4.x, so are customers supported when using newer TIA portals and the relevant firmware or what can they do?
An info from the product management would be great rickard.norin .

WEBSVC Custom Authentication Configuration

Hello

In our project we are trying to connect an API with below token request defined by the provider:

Method: POST

Request Body:

we have defined below contents in configuration:

Header

Authorization: (empty)

Body

username

password

Authentication

Cert File: (empty)

Private Key: (empty)

we also tested with only body parameters by deleting all other parameters inside Header and Authorization.

We could achieve connection.

We tested with curl to connect API:

curl -X POST "">accesscontrol.xyz.com:2626/.../Token" -H "Content-Type: application/json" -d "{\"username\":\"user\",\"password\":\"1234\",\"pin\":\"1234\"}"

this command returns SSL certificate error. (SSL certificate is already imported to Trusted Root.)

curl -k -X POST "">accesscontrol.xyz.com:2626/.../Token" -H "Content-Type: application/json" -d "{\"username\":\"user\",\"password\":\"1234\",\"pin\":\"1234\"}"

this command successfully returns the token. since SSL is ignored.(with including -k in the command)

I thought the reason why WEBSVC does not get token is similarly the SSL error...

My question:

How can I configure Custom Authentication with ignoring SSL certificate?

Or how can I configure Cert File field in authentication to make it recognize the certificate. I could not find any information in documentation to configure this.

On the other hand below is the logs for OI Server:

Instead of SSL, do I have misconfiguration for Authentication settings?

Any suggestions welcome.

OI SIDIR Symbolic: variables with hyphens

Hi all, I'm trying to read data from an integrator machine, and I'm facing an issue where they used hypens (-, U+002D HYPHEN-MINUS) in some of their variable names. There is around 70 I/O attributes, and all those with hypens arent working while the others are perfectly fine.

I'm not getting any errors in the DDE or in the platform logs, but given that hyphens arent allowed in attributes names, I'm quite sure they are the source of the issue.

My DDE mapping looks like this:

is there any way to format the Item Reference to get around this issue ? I might be able to get this integrator to modify their program accordingly, but if there's a trick I'd still like to know it !

It's on an S7 1500, put/get communications have been turned off so Legacy SIDIR wont work. System Platform 2023 R2 SP1 with the matching OI.

SIDIR Ports setting

The SIDIR driver defaults to using 102 Port for data communication with Siemens PLC. Can the default communication port for this setting be modified at the driver layer?

Note: Some sites may use NAT gateways for IP and port translation due to PLC IP conflicts, so it may be necessary to use multiple different ports of the same IP to map multiple PLC addresses for communication.

SIDIR comms issue

We are currently experiencing an issue with the Siemens SIDirect drive,

The problem arises when the MixerB_S7300 PLC is offline and the AOS server is restarted. In such cases, all mixers under the associated port lose communication.

We need to integrate our System Platform solution with a AMQP broker, and we are looking for a driver or solution to do this.

Are there any communication drivers that could enable communicaton over AMQP for System Platform, or are there plans of making this?

If there are no drivers at the moment, are there any suggestions to make this work?

Limit what you see and what you can use via OPC UA

Hi everyone,

I do have customers using the Application Server OPC UA Server functionality and they would like to know if it's possible to:

1. Restrict what you can see, meaning what is offered in general dependent on the user asking
2. Configure where you can read or where you can write to certain attributes

This is possible via TOP Server but it would be nice to have that functionality in our product as well:

Additionally it's possible via TOP Server to specify which network card is providing data via OPC UA. On AVEVA side that's currently not possible.

So are there any thoughts regarding these requests, is there anything planned or does it need enhancement requests?

OI MBTCP crashing

Hi , we currently have intermittent issue with the OI MBTCP. The version is 2023.1 Patch 3 but the issue is happening since 2020.

We have 8 Schneider momentum CPU and 1 Schneider M340 CPU. The OI seems to drop and we have to restart the computer to have it to work again. At first I was thinking it was because of the mix of momentum + the M340 so we created an other instance of the OI only for the M340.

Last time we had the issue the OI for the momentum crashed but the one for the M340 stayed up. The issue is really random and hard to troubleshoot since its only happening twice a year...

Since the update to 2023.1 Patch 3 im seeing the following message in the log. I dont know if this can be part of the issue.

Communications failure

I trust you are well. May you please assist on possible reasons for communications failure between G2 TCS and System Platform, OI-Gateway is used to allow comms between the two systems.

There was a time some of the highlighted values went bad, and the issue was resolved by restarting all the servers.

There was no power outage or any interruptions to the servers.

We tried to identify the root cause for this failure but cannot find anything, Could you please advise on the possible reasons for this failure? I would appreciate any guidance to know the root course,
