How to verify that there are no gaps in data after a period with StoreForward?

Question from Customer: How can I find gaps in data after a period with StoreForward?

Customer experienced a crash on the Historian Server causing some gaps in his data, and now he wants to know if there is a recommended way to find the "holes" in his data - or verify that there are no gaps.

  • it is not clear from the question what kind of data gap is being looked for and what kind of Historian Server crash is being discussed. First, it needs to be understood what "crash" we are talking about. Ungraceful shutdown of the historian computer or the VM where the historian server was running? Or a crash of a historian storage process due to a memory access violation or insufficient memory? If any of those things happen, then all remote data collection nodes are expected to go into the S/F mode until the historian server is up and running again. Then that data is expected to be forwarded to the historian. Are we talking about a data gap caused by ungraceful termination of a storage process, or when some data has not been forwarded yet from a remote node?
