Historian Client and Configurator License Mode

Hi,

When configuring a node that is intended to function only as a Historian Client (Trend and Query), the Local Configurator requires you to configure the License Mode. Otherwise, the node will continue to display the blue "License Mode Unconfigured" status.

I believe that for purely a Historian Client this doesn't do anything. Tested it with several configurations but don't see the function of it.

Access to new features like Historian expressions for perpetual customers

Hi,

There are a couple of features that some perpetual customers are asking about. Most notably Historian expressions.

My understanding is that Historian expressions is only available for advanced historian. A customer will either need to:

A: Upgrade to a advanced perpetual license. If the license they have today is "worth" $56.000 today, that upgrade will cost them around $50.000.

B: Buy a flex license at $30.000 per year

And this is for a customer that has been paying the yearly support cost every year. And they have also been regularly upgrading and buying new licenses.

Is there no other option to get access to this functionality?

Vision AI Assistant has also been requested, and has a different story where you cannot get access unless you convert to flex. Which in some cases will increase the licensing cost by 3-6x in the long run. Is there no other option to get access to this functionality?

Microsoft Patch management

I am trying to find an effective solution to Microsoft patch management. A WSUS server looks to be an option, but this would require manual checks with the list of validated patches in Security Central. Is this what others are using?

System Platform – Merging Two Galaxies into One (Multi-Site Deployment)

We’re consolidating two independent System Platform deployments into a single Galaxy spanning two geographically separate sites, connected via routed fibre.

Each site retains its own PLC layer, but object deployment and management will be centralised.

For those who’ve done this in production — what issues should we watch for?
(Deployment stability, latency, failover behaviour, historian strategy, alarms, etc.)

Appreciate any lessons learned.

Problem with licence web after update

Hi, i have updated my system platform 2020 to system platform 2023 and i can not acess the licence manager web to aply my licence. I have test the conection on the configurator and says that is sucessfull, but when i open the url https:// /AELicenseManager it says that i can not optain acess to that page

Communication is lost and when I open the SMC O/I Server, the Commucation Driver Pack loading dialog appears.

I'm using InTouch HMI 2020 R2SP1.

O/I Server : MBTCP

About twice a week, data is intermittently lost.
When I open the OI Server tree in SMC, a window like the one below appears and the system becomes extremely slow.

Reactivating the O/I Server and running the runtime restores communication,
but this issue persists intermittently.

If anyone has experienced this or knows of a successful solution, please help.

Failed to acquire a license to enable the Wonderware Development Studio

Hello everyone ,

this morning when i tried to open my IDE "System platfrom" i got this Pop up :

Failed to acquire a license to enable the Wonderware Development Studio configuration system. Either the license is not available or it has expired. Check the Aveva License Manager for more details on available licenses containing the Feature 'wspdevstudio-iocount'.

i don't know the real reason of that , after i ve checked my SMC logs i got this its talking about : "Failed to retieve the license information for FSDev session count." , but its funny cause in my licence manager i didn't found anything strange , all my licences are avaliable ,

btw For your information : my license manager is installed in another Node "Different from my GR Node"

Aveva vs Windows Server 2025

I would have a question. Are any of the new versions of Aveva compatible with Windows Server 2025, or is such an upgrade expected any time soon? I have read that supposedly for Aveva 2023 R2 this should work, but I would need to be sure.

Tag subscribe not working

I want to use Tagsubscribe in aveva to listen to tag change but it doesn’t seem to work. I even used the code exactly from their documentation but still didn’t work. Any help would be appreciated

We want to capture the Heading tile of Metal Rod to take decision to cur the header based on its image to be captured by Camera and analyse good or bad. If bad we have to send the command to PLC to cut the header. if OK we should not cut the header.

Pls let me know the details of solution we can use from AVEVA side of it using Vision AI.

Hello,

I'm interested in the community thoughts and AVEVAs thoughts on component building. I feel that AVEVA has good software solutions, System Platform, Intouch, Edge but has missing components which again AVEVA is trying to fill in ( MFA authentication, camera feed, customisation, plc mimics, better templates etc ) .

Should not AVEVA systems be a base platform and allow other designers to build on it ?

I'm not sure if they can keep up with feature requirements and maybe difficult for product managers to prioritize but if AVEVA gives incentives for other people like me to build on them that would be the best way to do this.

Only question is how do we incentivise people to build on top of AVEVA systems ?

Interpreting LFD file structure

Hi, I am trying to convert my pts. format file into LFD format on my python. Because I found that .lfd file can be open on notepad and can be read as text file. However, I cannot seem to interpret the structure of the format. The first 3 lines seem quite close to the .pts format, where the first line is the size of the data, and the other 2 lines composed of x, y, z coordinates for first 3 columns, and the other 3 columns for RGB color information. However, this data that I am trying to interpret is definitely longer than 5 as shown on the first line. I am not sure whether my educated guess is even correct. I have asked it to ChatGPT but I am not getting the satisfactory answer. Does anyone know how to interpret the format of .lfd file? It is not so kind as there is no columns labelled and I wonder if anyone is familiar with the format of .lfd.

Hi, Will AVEVA provide a platform where people can provide add sample libraries, graphics and maybe some paid service offered to other people. I'm thinking there should be a platform we can share things like template graphics, some code/ projects to buy etc .

To add to this, also build some custom .NET controls, web widgets etc

NTLM authentication

We got information that NTLM authentication is coming to the end of its life/support in a year and it would be used in our AVEVA MES solution.

We have checked that at least AVEVA WorkTasks's EnterpriseConsole and CentralConfig web sites have NTLM provider enabled and based on the discussions had so far perhaps also System Platform and possibly other products as well would use NTLM.

So the question is that:
-Can it be confirmed which AVEVA products (WorkTasks, Enterprise Integrator, System Platform, Communication Drivers) really use NTLM authentication?
-What are the proposed actions to take and inform to end customers to handle its end of life/support in a year?
-Does AVEVA have already some guidance to take care of that topic?

Using ChatGPT for AVEVA Intouch, System Plaftorm and OMI

Heyy I was thinking if there's a way to use ChatGPT for AVEVA Intouch, System Platform , OMI, Historian , Edge for developing graphics, tags, basically all the leg work.

Features i'd like to see:

1) Write scripts for me

2) Help me upgrade to industrial graphics

3) Better help guide section

4) build tags , UDTs, objects for me

5) use situational awareness library to build graphics based on P&ID.

Any thoughts from AVEVA ?

I tried seeing what ChatGPT gives me currently and it's not half bad at all

Hi ,

Please see following issues on AVEVA Heroes HQ:

The website is very laggy, the forum needs to be fast, intuitive and lag free
Around 40 % of the time the replies don't go through, i need to re write the replies and send again
NOT Mobile friendly, the website definitely be more mobile friendly
Not getting any notifications when new questions arise, we all would like to help and need like a summary notification of which ones are not replied to

Hope someone sees this and makes this experience better
