ABCLX driver to Allen Bradley Compact Logix 5069 series with firmware v36 or v37

I have the same problem of Leon Kenison .

I'm working with Citect SCADA 2018 R2 Update 15 and CompactLogix 5069-L310ER firmware 37.

The version of the ABCLX is 5.04.04.000_HOTFIX

I'm trying to communicate with the PLC, but without success.

Could you help?

Just FYI.  The Hotfix solved my problem.  In my observation, the ABCLX behavior changed when AB added OPCUA capability (the lesser processors do not support OPCUA).  I am guessing it is due to security changes???  The older ABCLX drivers work so long as the PLC does NOT have OPCUA available.  The HOTFIX driver, for me, worked on the PLCs that have OPCUA available even if not used.  It is odd, but for me at least the HOTFIX worked.  The official release of an updated driver has not happened since 2022.  That also seems odd to me.

I managed to stabilize communication, reading and writing to the controller's tags, but I'm unable to read tags inside the tasks. For example, a TEST tag inside the MainTask. Is there a specific path I need to declare in Citect's addressing?

Another point is that it's taking a while to stabilize communication. The tags remain as #BAD and then communicate after about 30 seconds. Is there any way to improve this performance?

Regarding not updating the drivers since 2022, I also find that strange!

Please see Tech Note 000028421 for details on tuning the ABLX driver for optimum performance. If your PLC is overloaded with slow cycle time or the overhead time slice for communications is set to minimum, it may take some time for communications to come online and provide live data.

With regards to the ABCLX driver release, there are plans to release a new official release build in the coming weeks. So any customer on the hotfix can transition to the release build soon.
