Plant SCADA licensing Types - general info

Question

I have Plant SCADA 2023R2 in my plant, 2 server licenses (in redundancy) 6 Control clients and 6 View only. 
 
 i am being forced by IT to move away from USB dongle licenses to Soft Key. for 30 years we have always used Parallel Port then USB hardware dongles without issue. 
 can someone with experience in this area explain how softkey works and the pro's and cons with this. 
 1. is this the only option i have other than USB for licensing ? 
 2. is Soft Key and Schneider Electric Floating licenses one and the same ?

Hi Alan , 
 Please take a look at AVEVA Enterprise License that is fully integrated with Plant SCADA 2023. You should be able to take advantage of this feature in your Plant SCADA 2023R2 system. There are many features available in the AEL offer, such as redundant license servers, license reservation and license checkout etc. 
 You should contact your AVEVA account manager to obtain trial AEL licenses to validate your requirements. If satisfied, you could simply return your USB dongles and get the AEL licenses instead.
