Can you have a PI AF attribute indirectly reference an attribute in a different PI AF server?

I have it working in one PI AF server, but I can't get it working in another PI AF server. I am not sure what may be missing in the configuration.

If so, what is required to make this connection work? I keep having the default PI Server name getting added in front of the string.

Update:

I cleaned up the connections list on the AF server. That was messed up somehow and had some Data Archive connections shown for server names trying to connect to that aren't a DA server at all. They just are AF server. So I removed those and cleaned up, now I am at least getting a "Cannot retrieve the referenced Attribute " error now.

For the original question, we have this article available. Please refer to the link: How do I reference an attribute in a different AF database or server.
For the updated part, it would be good to know what is stored as an configuration String. And see if the DA Server is in the Known Servers Table. You may need to add alias depending on how the attribute is configured.
