Exchange Online to retire Basic auth. Alternative services?

If you're relying on their service and they're removing basic auth, then you need a middle ground. Typically, most companies would have an SMTP relay before heading out of your business network to an online service. And those relays tend to be unauthenticated since they handle internal traffic (not my preference, but I have rarely seen companies use AD to protect them).
