Upgrade of SQL server

We're planning to upgrade our SQL server (Windows 2012 R2/ SQL Enterprise 2014). This will be a new server build and not an in place upgrade. We do plan to upgrade the entire system eventually as the other five servers are running on Windows 2016. I do have a few questions:

1. What is the impact, if any, to PI Data Archive?

2. How do we determine the right server and SQL software version for our needs (PI AF Server 2018 SP2 (2.10.5.9050), Audit Trail, Event Frames, PI Vision)?

3. What are the steps for the upgrade?

DA has no SQL dependency.
Supported SQL can be found here. Basically, any new version of SQL is fine (including Express, but I would recommend Standard with AlwaysOn). System requirements for PI AF Server 2023 (aveva.com)
Build your new SQL server, perform a test backup & restore (and test if needed), plan a cutover date and perform the backup and restore during the planned outage.
