What are all possible locations where PI Users and PI Groups can be used at?

PI Users, Groups, and Identities are all technically the same object type. So they're going to be used in the same places as Identities. Typically, your mappings and DB security.

Interfaces don't run with PI Users or Groups. They either run as a Local System account and are connected through trusts, or they're running as an AD user and are connected through mappings.
