Has anyone tried integrating AVEVA's Romeo/ROMSS Offsite with PI System?

As per the question, has anyone tried integrating AVEVA's Romeo/ROMSS Offsite with PI System? We are looking at PI System as the digital twin for Romeo/ROMSS (which is unable to be on cloud). Given that ROMSS database isn't exactly time-series, was wondering how can PI System integrate/collect data from ROMSS.

I understand that there were some attempts by PI System to collect data from ROMSS through their FIFO Module, for some global customers, however, it seems to be limited in the type of data (value of tanks and quality).

Otherwise, how can we best use PI System together (which we try to be vendor agnostic) for Port terminals/Offsite solutions?

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

  • I realize that this question is over a year old, but as I have been looking at our ROMSS system lately, it is a current topic for me! My company has connected ROMSS (which we commonly call OMM-TIS, for Oil Movement Management and Tank Inventory System, the two modules we use out of the suite) by Schneider-Electric (and formerly by AVEVA) using OPC. This was configured many years ago when my company was still under the auspices of a Fortune 500 parent company. We were divested five years ago, so I can't speak to what customization might have been done to make this feasible. In our configuration, ROMSS has its own third-party Unified Automation OPC connector which talks to the PI OPC connector. That is for near-real-time data transfer. We also do a once-nightly data transfer via file export to .csv file and UFL into PI.
