The Migration Utility will sometime log errors in an application hive in the Windows Event Viewer on the node where it was run from and you can sometimes find additional information there. Also for limits, I have run migrations with thousands of files and not had an issue. I have had issues where someone embedded an image file into a display and made the file size so large the conversion failed but found that through trial and error. Had to save image to an external file and try using graphics tools to convert to a smaller format that still work for the display. One ones I had were mainly where the original user wanted to a detailed picture in the background. I also found a issue with the utility failing because the overall size of the PDI file (KB: https://customers.osisoft.com/s/knowledgearticle?knowledgeArticleUrl=000031669).

Here is another article on large images in displays being migrated: https://customers.osisoft.com/s/knowledgearticle?knowledgeArticleUrl=000025606
