PI Commander Will Not Connect to Database

Hello,

I am very new to PI and am creating a development environment but running into an issue I cannot figure out. Pardon some of my terminology. Everything configured up to this point has been following this guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4YS-MWtmzoQ

There are currently 2 Windows Server 2019 VMs:

  • Machine A has PI Server, PI Vision, and PI Web API installed as well as MSSQL server
  • Machine B has AF Client, PI SQL Client, and SSMS installed

At this time, on Machine A (server side), I can open PI System Explorer and see the dataset I imported into a database that was created within this tool - we will call it Dataset_DB.

From Machine B, I can connect to the database using SSMS and can see the points within System Explorer, but for some reason, when I open the PI Commander Lite application and try to connect to the server, I get an error message 10061 - connection refused. I can ping in both directions, and both of these machines are on the same domain. It's worth mentioning the firewalls are turned completely off on both machines, and I've added in port rules within the firewall just in case.

Looking at this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Vy1ALHe9UY), it says the PI Data Access Server should be installed with PI Server Kit, but when I went back to modify this, it's simply not an option like it is shown in the video. When I try to install that DAS from the installer, it can't even find the server running locally.

Hopefully this is enough info to help someone diagnose or provide some feedback, but I'll be glad to supply any additional information.
