reconfigure the PI server out of the domain

PI System Security is Windows Integrated Security. Without a Domain Controller, you usually have no instance authenticating you users.

What's you motivation to move your PI System out of the domain?

PI Server 2024 could potentially be located outside of a domain if you set up OpenID, but there’s still other complications. In general, it would be recommended to keep everything on the domain, even PI Vision, and skip OpenID.

The customer I am supporting wants to move it out of the Domain. I am not sure of the motivation behind the move.

and if the customer wants PI to run on CentOS? <= This will definitely not work.

I can imagine that a customer likes to move PI outside the office domain for security reasons and that the idea is to e.g. create a dedicated PI domain.

I still feel that it is fair to ask.
