Locate Data sources in Displays using PI Vision API

There is no programmatic, officially supported, mechanism for retrieving the data sources. You’ll have to write a SQL query against the data source table in the database.

PI Vision API is a new feature that they offered recently in order to be an addition alternative to PI Vision Display Utility. It was not for searching purpose, however I was able to pull off a search mechanism using Restful requests and Json handling.

I was playing around earlier, and you're right. You can export a display and that will show the datasources for the symbols. It's not documented which is why I overlooked it.

I happened to stumble upon it while checking for new stuff after AVEVA's renewal of almost everything. This API probably needs more specific URL and allows more parameters to shorten the json responses. As of now, I'll work with what I've got.
