Paid vs Free Licensed Js Libraries

When implementing extended visualization libraries to make newer PI Vision Symbol, Should we be aware of the licensing payment for these libraries? I'm aware that Amchart, along with other libs like HighChart and React all allow open source download/reference but also have a licensing policy for production environments. Would it be OK if I only test some of my custom symbols on a demo environment and not a production one?

  • You, as the developer, are responsible for being in compliance with any software product you use.

Some libraries have developer licenses, others have production/runtime licenses - this is something you need to check in each case.

We've used AmCharts a lot, since it doesn't impose any licensing restrictions for us developers - but rather leaves that to the customer responsible for their server environment.

The last time I checked out HighCharts, they had a developer license - but then you could include the libraries in any product you developed, without further licenses.
