SSL Certificate not available during PI AF Server install on PISRV02.

Hello, in the video lecture for the installation of PI AF Server when the SSL Certificate is selected, the video instructor selects "PI Web API" certificate. However, in my PISRV02 VM that certificate is not available? Only the "WMSVC-SHA2" certificate is available. Do I proceed with that certificate?

  • Same issue as well, I was doing the pi af install last week.

Still no response from OSISoft trainer since this was raised a month ago. Appreciate if you guys can shed some lights here.

  • I used the certificate that was available and continued on with the course. Everything worked fine and it did not appear to cause any issues. I later received an email response to my question from an Aveva Customer Education Services rep that included the following snippet:

"In a prior lesson, ‘Background: Service Accounts and Certificates’, it references using a certificate generated by the ‘domain certification authority’, but does not walk you through the creation of the certificate.

During this course we won't be installing PI Vision, but we will be installing PI AF Server, so we will need a certificate. We'll be using a certificate generated by our Domain's Certification Authority. The certificate we're using in this class have similar function to certificates generated by your IT department for use within your corporate domain, trusted by domain-joined computers and users. This is the most common type of certificate used for PI System Services the field.

I would suggest selecting the certificate available and continue with the installation."

  • Hi Guys

Same issue here, I will proceed with the certificate available WMSVC-SHA2 as suggested by  and keep you updated.
