Query on installing PI System in a domain server environment Hello everyone, I am in the process of implementing PI System and I am having some doubts about the structure needed for its installation. I currently have 2 machines available and I would like to know if the configuration I am planning is viable, or if it is necessary to add a third one.
My idea is the following: - Machine 1: Domain server (domain controller with Active Directory).
- Machine 2: PI Server (including PI AF, PI Data Archive, etc.) and the OPC interfaces.
My questions are: 1. Is it advisable to install PI System (PI Data Archive, PI AF, etc.) on the domain server (Machine 1)? I have read that there may be problems, but I am not sure.
2. In case it is not possible or advisable, would it be necessary to have a third machine to separate the domain server, the PI server and the OPC interfaces?
3. How necessary is it to have a **domain** for PI System to work correctly? What happens if I do not have a domain configured? Does it affect the performance or security of the system in any way?
Any advice would be very helpful as I want to make sure I have a stable infrastructure from the start.
Thanks in advance!
